COVID 19 UPDATE at Castle Country Assisted Living

June 12, 2021

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) last week released new regulations following the Public Health Order 20-20 and Mitigation Guidance which follows the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This new guidance is a welcome change for residents, staff, and families to move forward.

During the pandemic, state and federal guidance has not always aligned, and that continues to be the case. Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment now allows some licensed facilities the ability to follow state guidance and have more interactions without masks. All assisted living residences are only required to follow CDPHE guidance. This is true for those assisted living facilities, such as Castle Country Assisted Living, Inc, that are eligible to provide care for Medicaid residents.

New regulation changes affect visitation, the wearing of masks, participation in meals and activities, and surveillance testing for the vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors, residents, and staff. Per CDPHE guidance, unvaccinated residents, staff, and visitors are those who cannot provide proof of vaccination.

Community Safeguards

Our goal has always been to create and maintain the safest environment to live and work for our residents, families, and associates. In our efforts to accomplish this, and in accordance with continuous guidance and updates from the Federal (CMS), State (CDPHE), and local guidance, we have adjusted the operations in our communities to remain compliant.

The most recent steps we have taken include:

  • Lifting the mask mandate for vaccinated residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitoring the health and wellness of all residents and associates daily.
  • Screening all staff and visitors upon arrival at the facilities.
  • Additional sanitizing of surfaces in workspaces and common areas.
  • Providing special precautions for the few unvaccinated residents and staff.

We continue to work together with residents and families taking safeguards both inside and outside of our communities to ensure our resident’s safety, happiness, and wellbeing. The efforts of each one of us are important.

Executive Director
