What GPS do you use?

Postby Hammer on Sun Apr 25, 2010 12:42 pm

I've been doing a little research on GPS receivers and which to buy next. Just wondering which models or brands everyone likes and why.
Thanks

I've used both Garmin and Magellan GPS units, and I prefer the Garmin--they seem more user-friendly. I have owned the eTrex Legend, GPS 60, and GPSmap 60CSx. The 60CSx is about the best that Garmin has, unless you want to get all fancy and get the Colorado or Oregon (I haven't tried those yet). I would simply choose the Garmin that has all the features that you want. The 60CSx has a barometric altimeter and magnetic compass that I've found to be pretty much worthless, so a cheaper model would have done me better.

If you want to borrow my GPS 60 or GPSmap 60CSx, you'd be welcome to them for a few hours to see if that's what you'd like.
