Since 1992, Castle Country Assisted Living, a 501(c)3 non-profit, has offered assisted living and services to the valued elder citizens of Douglas County. With three homes spread across Castle Rock and Parker, CCAL supports seniors in continuing their independent lifestyle, while providing expert care in a family, home-like setting.

Castle Country Assisted Living has been named “Best of the Best” four times by the well-known Assisted Living Federation of America, a nationally recognized senior living organization. Castle Country was one of only 15 senior communities nationwide selected for this honor, and the only Colorado community to ever receive this prestigious national award.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit, and the first of its kind in Douglas Country, Castle Country is in a class all of its own. We are able to provide Douglas County with low-cost assisted living while maintaining the high care standards found at larger organizations. As a private non-profit, our primary concern is the well-being and fulfillment of our residents, rather than increasing profits for shareholders or owners.

Our most unique quality is the familiar, comfortable feel of each of our three homes. To our qualified and tenured staff, residents become like family. Our extensive activities schedules create a full and vibrant lifestyle, and our comprehensive care program focuses on both the physical and emotional well-being of each resident. At CCAL, “person-centered” care is a commitment that each staff member shares.

Castle Country Assisted Living is truly a place where you can find yourself at home.

History

In 1989 three nurses, Jeanne Schwarz, Patty Logue, and Theresa McWilliams saw the need and had the foresight to envision an assisted living community in Douglas County. With a lot of hard work and with community donations of time and money, they formed Castle Country Assisted Living, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and built our first community, Cantril House.

From that humble beginning, we have grown with the addition of Valley House and Victorian House. We have no owners but are directed by a volunteer board of directors, the members of which are local business owners and professionals who each serve for a period of three to five years.

Since 1991, Castle Country Assisted Living (CCAL) has been offering assisted living services to our valued elder citizens in our warm, family-like communities. Our mission is to provide compassionate care and supportive communities for seniors of all income levels.

Our three communities are Cantril House and Valley House in Castle Rock, and Victorian House in Parker. CCAL team members share a commitment to serving our residents with kindness and love while maintaining a focus on the individuality, talents, and life experiences of those we serve.

Our Founders

Pat Logue

Served on the CCAL Board of Directors from inception in 1992 to 2010. She left the Board for a few years and returned to serve from mid-2014 to Dec 2014, during which time she also served as emergency ED Pro Tem. She then served as full-time ED from Jan of 2015 to Sep 2016.

Pat, together with Terri McWilliams, also saw a void in Home Health at the same time.  Together, they set up and ran Douglas County’s first Home Health Agency.

Pat was the CEO of Castle Care Home Health, Inc. and Castle Care, Inc. (the Medicaid side of Castle Care Home Health) for over 10 years.

Jeanne Schwarz

Served as Executive Director (ED) of Castle Country Assisted Living, Inc. from inception in 1991 to 2003.

Both the Assisted Living and the Home Health agencies founded by these women helped community members on Medicaid as well as those not on the program. Giving back to the communities was paramount to the founders and is continued in the company today.

We are who we are and we do what we do because of the hard work, dedication, and love that you gave. You started the heart of CCAL beating, and we continue on and flourish because of your leadership and vision.
