Castle Country Assisted Living hosting toiletry and food drive for Douglas County Task Force
The whole month of May
Castle Country Assisted Living is hosting a toiletry and food drive for the month of May to benefit the Douglas County Task Force. Hygiene products, non-perishable food items and basic household supplies are requested. Items will be delivered on Thursday, May 18. The Douglas County Task Force is a non-profit organization serving low-income individuals in Douglas County who are in serious economic need or at risk of homelessness. Donations should be dropped at the Valley House, 255 S. Valley Drive in Castle Rock.

Author Caryn Mottilla to host reading

We will welcome author Caryn Mottilla for a reading of her latest children’s book “The Journey of Carlos and Charlie: Trail of Courage.” The book is set in the mountains of California and tells the story of two horses whose lives are forever changed when an earthquake strikes their home.

Participants should bring a small trinket or funny item worth $5 or less for the prize pot. Light refreshments will be served.

Performance by musician Dan McClerren 
Tuesday, May 23 at 1 p.m., Valley House
Local musician Dan McClerren is a one-man band from Aurora. He has produced seven CDs and specializes in soft, relaxing instrumental music.

Picnic lunch
Wednesday, May 31 at 12 p.m.,  Valley House
Kick off the summer, socialize under the sun and enjoy a spread that includes fried chicken, macaroni salad and watermelon.
